This 4" x 6" note pad was made from an
authentic Jim Crow sign in use throughout the Southern United States from
the 1860's through the 1970's. Why would anyone want to keep around a
reminder of such pain and oppression? Philip Merrill's answer:
To remind us of the victories we have won, which in turn can give us hope as
we face the challenges of the future.
